Al Maginnes was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in a number of states, mostly in the southeast. He has degrees in English and writing from East Carolina University and the University of Arkansas. He is the author of seven full length collections of poetry and four chapbooks, and his reviews of books and music have appeared widely. Al serves as music editor for the website ConnotationPress.com and is a member of Libery Circus, a music and spoken word collective dedicated to social justice. Al has lived in Raleigh, North Carolina since 1988 and teaches at Wake Technical Community College.
